I pored over hours of music from this era trying to find a song I could both connect to lyrically and still do justice to the vocal track. I found that combination was pretty hard to find, as most of the songs either had lyrics that were sappy and boy-crazy, or displayed such vocal prowess I couldn't touch on what made the songs so remarkable. But this song, co- authored by Wendy Rene and her brother, has such a universal message- that part of loving is losing, and while the vocal track is wholly unique, by dropping the key I was able to manage a rendition I was satisfied with. The backing vocals by Bimbo Yaga, was an added bonus that made our version unflinchingly haunting, which I've come to see as my signature.
